I walk a mile, spinning like a leaf falling from a tree. This is my journey through life. I want more than I seek. How do I find it?

I’m not sure if Chase changed the words after everything that happened, but the film fits the precarious mood we all feel as recent graduates. If Redwood was a test, what else are we going to face? In the dark, I brush a tear away as Dom hugs my shoulders. Luna leans forward and touches Chase’s hand.

“That was brilliant,” she gushes in a low whisper, “I want to work with you. Seriously.”

Luna winks at me and then points at my slinky slip dress. It’s identical to hers, except mine is white and hers is indigo.

The cinematography club entries are next, and I cross my fingers in my lap. Snow White in Gluttony flashes across the screen, and Luna appears, beautifully dressed in my old Stevie Nicks dress. The wind whips the handkerchief hem in all directions as she stands by a swimming pool. She takes a bite of an apple, leaving red on her once-bare mouth before she falls backward into the water. She looks up as she sinks, and her eyes flutter shut. And when her eyes open again, she’s in the woods behind Redwood, running down a path toward a banquet table overloaded with food. But she can’t reach it as she stumbles and falls, ending up mysteriously at the top of the path again. She plays out a Sisyphean nightmare, tumbling toward the table but never achieving her goal.

Luna sits up and stares at the camera, the pool in the background. “Am I dreaming?” she asks the viewer.

The applause makes the year of pain worth it. I stand up and take a quick bow with the other members of the club. After we mingle, the attendees walk toward the white catering tents on the lawn. I stop short when I see Maya standing with Dad and Naomi.

Maya smiles tightly when she sees me. I’m not sure what to do either. But Naomi ends the awkwardness as she hurries toward me.

“Vicki, that was wonderful,” she says, “You could be an actress or director.”

“I didn’t realize you had so much creative talent, Vicki.” Dad hugs me tight. “And to think I wanted you to be an accountant.” Dad looks pleased when his joke gets a laugh.

I step back, waiting for Maya to say something. In her hand, she holds out a small velvet box with a hinge. “Vicki, this is for you.”

I open it, and inside is an old-fashioned gold locket with floral engraving. I open it to see a picture of Troy and me as babies.

“It was your grandmother’s,” continues Maya, “She wore it and wanted you to have it when she passed away.”

“But Grandma passed six years ago,” I reply.

Maya smiles sadly. “She did, but I was afraid that you’d…lose it, so I held onto it until you were ready. I’m really proud of what you’ve done.”

I don’t know how I feel other than overwhelmed. So I let my body do what it wants to do. I hug Maya for the first time since I was a child. She hugs me back as Dad and Naomi look on. I still haven’t forgiven her, but I can’t hang onto bitterness forever.

  “Thank you, Mom.”

The stiffness returns instantly, and Maya looks shocked as she backs away. It will take work if we want a real relationship, but I’ll leave the next move to her. For now, I’m done.

Luna grabs my hand and pulls me away as she waves at Dad. He winks at her, and something is definitely up as I brace myself for another surprise. She pulls me along the path, tripping along on our high heels. “You have to come right now.” We hurry toward the town house, to our suite. She opens the door with a flourish and steps away.

“Troy!” I shout, running into his arms. He hugs me, lifting me off the ground.

“You did it!” he shouts with enthusiasm. “You said you wouldn’t graduate, but you did.”

I frown. “From Montlake. I said I would never graduate from that school. Where are Natalie and the baby?”

“Rory is now a toddler,” he replies cheekily, “and they’ll be here in a few days. I really wanted to be here for your big night.”

I hold out the jewelry box to show him.

“Hang onto this for me?” I ask.

“Sure, where did you get it?” he asks.

“A gift from Maya,” I reply, “It was Grandmother’s, and she gave it to me.”

Troy almost drops it. “It was a big evening.”

I catch sight of Silas standing in the doorway behind me. He smiles and steps into the suite, reaching out his hand to shake Troy’s.

“Have you two met?” asks Luna.

  Silas nods. “Yes, we’ve talked.”

A look passes between Silas and Troy that makes me wonder, but I don’t bother to ask. I can quiz them separately later. “We have to get going,” says Silas, “We have another surprise for Vicki.”

“Good seeing you, Silas.” Troy nods with a smirk on his lips. “We’ll talk again soon.”

I give them both side-eye because something is definitely going on.

Luna steps out of her bedroom, holding a piece of wrinkled fabric up in the air. “Vicki, why are there boxers in my bed?”

I swing open the front door. “Love you, Luna. Call me tomorrow. Kisses, honey.”

I’m almost out of the door with Silas, but I can hear Luna say to Troy, “How did you manage to live with that wild girl?”

  Troy just laughs.

We navigate our way to Marina Del Rey as Dom drives from the mountains to the coast. My eyes are heavy, and I stretch my body along Chase’s lap. He plays with my hair, and I hug his legs, pretending I’m fast asleep. Streetlights flash into the interior of the car, and I know we’re close to a city.

I sit up and stretch. “Are we there yet?”

I receive a chorus of moans as Dom parks his car in an underground lot. Now I’m really curious where we are. We get out of the car and take an elevator up to an empty loft space. It has a fantastic view of the ocean, and frankly, that’s all it needs. I dance a happy step up to the window and look down at the people walking along the beach.

“What is this place?” I spin in a circle.

  Silas catches me. “It’s ours.”

I stop and eye him, not understanding what that even means. Silas takes my hand and walks me over to a large white couch that looks like it’s from Jagan’s office. I sit down, and the boys stand in front of me.

“Vicki,” Dom smiles, “This is our place. We rented it for our business.”

I jump up from my seat. “Our business? Together?”

“We have a proposal for you,” says Chase.

“What kind of proposal?” I ask.

“While we were in court, we realized that this works for us,” answers Silas, “Being together. So we decided to talk to your father.”

“You what?” The whole night has been filled with surprises that are quickly canceling out a shitty year.

“We needed advice on how it all works, and we knew Greg knew,” replies Dom.

“What did he say?” I ask.

“Greg was hesitant about the idea,” says Silas, “Then he agreed that it has worked so far, and he gave us your brother’s number.” Silas smiles when I wince. “It’s what you wanted.”

“And I still want it,” I shake off my embarrassment, “I’m being silly, of course.”

I cringe a little, wondering what Dad might think. I’m his baby girl, wanting three men to herself, but then I think about Troy. He’s okay with it, especially since the baby. Why shouldn’t I want to be that lucky too?

“The four of us together always, like this,” says Dom, “Making films and making love.”

“You are so corny, but I love you for always.” I kiss him, wrapping my arms around him.

“Time for me?” Chase tilts an eyebrow.

“Always and now it will be forever.” I grin.

I kiss Chase, and as I do, my arm reaches back, and I touch Silas. Chase leans back as Silas leans in to kiss me.

Chase nods. “Once you sign the contract, it is legal, and you’ll be stuck with us.”

  “Where is it? I
’ll sign.” I swing my arms over my head and laugh.

I hoped it would end this way, and it did. My life is finally on a track I want to follow. I gaze at the boys as my heart aches with love that I can’t describe, but I will. I’ll work each day to express how I truly feel.

Silas takes a step closer and pulls me against his muscular body. My curves melt into him as I sigh and close my eyes. He kisses me, cupping my face in his hand. I slip his other hand over my breast. Chase’s body sandwiches me against Silas as he holds me by the waist. He presses a row of kisses down my neck as I grind my ass against him.

I giggle, feeling the heat amp up. I glance out the window at the horizon, in awe that we’re only a few steps from the beach. One day we’ll buy a house on the beach and make love in a private cove. But right now, I’m happy to have part of the dream—the most important part.

Silas steps back as Chase continues to cuddle me tight. “Tonight, do you want to direct?”

I smile, thinking about the time when Dom was in control. I pause, thinking about how I loved the way they handled me, but I want to be in control too.

“I want both your hands here,” I pull Chase’s hands to my breasts. “While I watch you undress.”

Silas shuts off the light, so hopefully, no one can see in. He watches me as he unbuttons his shirt. His head tilts up, proud of a body that should always be on display. I watch as he pulls off his pants, and I look down and moan.

“Dom, you have to do more than watch,” I tell him sternly, “Pull up my dress.”

Dom is across the floor before I can finish the sentence. He kneels down in front of me; his hands glide over my hips, down my thighs, and stop at my knees. He pushes the silky fabric up, and a gasp leaves his lips.

“Naughty girl,” he looks at me, “You don’t like panties anymore?”

I giggle. “Silas, check your suit pocket. I gave you a gift while you weren’t paying attention.”

Silas picks up his jacket and pulls my thong out of the pocket. He places it against his face and smiles as he inhales my scent. Dom smiles at Silas and lifts his brow. He looks back at me. He lifts the hem up higher, and he kisses my thigh with small kisses, moving closer. Chase is devouring my neck, and I close my eyes again, the sensation building as they touch me all over.

I gasp when Dom’s tongue slides along my slit and flicks me. I grunt as his tongue circles my clit, and Chase pinches my nipples until they’re harder than metal. Silas takes a seat on the couch. I don’t need a diamond, not when they know how to please me. I get off on thinking about the films we will make. I look at Silas as if I’m auditioning for a part, and I let myself go wild.

“I want you so bad.” I watch Silas with hazy eyes.

I grab Dom’s hair as Chase supports me. Chase’s hand slips underneath my dress, and the fact that I have nothing on under this thin fabric turns me on even more. My legs shake, and Chase keeps me from collapsing to the floor. Dom licks my thighs as I recover; my nerves tingle with each lick. As I watch, Silas stands and walks toward us.

“Take off my dress,” I tell Chase. He slowly moves the silk over my waist along my sides and, whoosh, it falls over my head onto the floor. Except for my heels, I’m naked, and I stand in front of Silas, his eyes devouring me as if he’s never seen my naked body before.

“You want to fuck me, don’t you?” I stand out of reach. “I want you to fuck me because I love having you between my legs.”

Silas pulls me into his arms and kisses my mouth, locking his lips on mine so I can only moan into his mouth. He pulls me tight against him, and the silliness shifts into seriousness as the love for him takes me over. I pull away and look into those eyes that were once so cruel but now only express kindness and love for me.

I lean in close and whisper in his ear, “Please fuck me.”

Silas lifts me, and I wrap my legs around him as he carries me over to the couch. I hear his breath as he pants in my ear. He reaches over my head, and I hear the sound of a wrapper opening as he pulls a condom on. His cock rubs against me, parting me as I moan, teased by the weight of him as he presses hard against me. I bend my knees and wrap my legs around him as he lets out a long moan.

Dom appears beside me without a stitch on; he’s bad at following direction. I grin at him but toss my head as Silas plunges back in. Dom takes his cock and rubs the tip along the seam of my mouth. I open up and greedily pull him into my mouth. Dom throws back his head as I take in more. The corners of my mouth ache as I open wider.

I tug him out of my mouth as Silas fills me with every hard inch of him. We pause for a moment, staring into each other’s eyes. My hand stays wrapped around Dom. Silas grins, his eyes intense as he moves back slowly. I recognize the look of love.

I turn my head and take Dom back into my mouth again. His hands hold my head gently as he eases further in. I moan, and he hisses, rolling back his head. I drag my tongue along his smooth skin, savoring the feel I crave in my mouth. He strokes my hair back as he murmurs about needing me.

I let go of Dom and wiggle away from Silas, which is not easy as they try to still my body. But I’m supposed to be directing, and so far, Chase has been left out. Chase sits on the ground, watching as I get on the floor on all fours and crawl toward him.

  “Don’t you want to play?”

He smiles. “I didn’t want to wear you out first.” Silas scoffs, and Dom snorts.

“Go ahead, Vicki. Tell Chase what to do.”

I look at him with that expressionless face and wonder if I’ll ever be able to read him when he’s in these moods. For a moment, I feel doubt. Maybe he’s changed his mind and doesn’t want to share. I crawl closer, nuzzling his neck playfully as I run the tip of my nose along his cheek. Chase turns suddenly, yanking me into his arms, and kisses me on the mouth with a passion that leaves me breathless.

I fall back and place my hand on my chest as I watch him pull off his shirt. His chest is cut, and it gleams in the dim light. Watching him, I sit with my legs open as he pulls off his pants. He’s so hard it makes my body relax, and I give myself to him as I lie back on the floor. He crawls over to me, and he whispers, “What do you want?”

“I have what I want,” I brush my hand down his cheek. I’m done with our little game when he kisses me again.

Dom sits beside us and strokes my hair as Chase kisses my neck to my chest to my breast. His lip locks around my nipple, and I moan, lifting my arms above my head. They share me, and what I feel is more than love.

Silas kisses my thighs as I spread them wider, watching his every move. He looks at Chase and grins with a wink. “I think you should direct her.”

Chase smiles. “I think I want her to always be in love.” He leans in and kisses me again. “You’re even more beautiful in love.”

I wrap my arms around Chase’s neck as he lies over me. He fumbles with his clothes and slips his cock deep inside me. The sensation of him makes me feel like I’m floating on the water on the other side of the window. To be loved in this way makes me open up as I press my face against his neck and moan.

My body trembles as I cum, and he kisses the tears away from my eyes. Dom strokes my hair as I reach for him again, swirling my tongue over his tip as Silas pulls me into the curve of his body. Silas slips inside me, and I groan as he rocks inside me. I hold onto Dom, staring into his eyes. Love surrounds me when I am with them, and I know they are committed to me, to us. I feel completely free.

Silas grips me hard against him, and I can tell by his breath that he’s about to cum. Dom grunts as he releases, and I hold him in my mouth as he comes down. He collapses beside me and strokes my sweaty skin. He reaches out to kiss me, and I hold onto him.

“You’re my Malibu boy again,” I whisper to him.

“You saved me, Vicki,” Dom whispers, “I didn’t know love could make a person this happy.”

  Epilogue

  Vicki

“Holy fuck, I love this view.”

  “Vicki!” Three voices in u
nison tell me to shut up. I look at my niece Rory and cringe. I walk away from the view of the Pacific from my office window and pick her up into my arms. I point out the window at Natalie and Troy, talking to Dad and Naomi, and Rory claps in delight to see them.
